Many of you have asked me my make-up routine. So well, here it is. Let me start off by saying I'm a huge fan of Clarins make-up and skincare. So you'll see a lot of Clarins items here. They started off as a skincare company that used herbal and mineral extracts in all products. Then they started their make-up line, incorporating the herbal and mineral extracts in the make-up too. That's why I love their stuff. And the bottomline, every item does EXACTLY what it says it'll do, and more. And no, I've not been paid to rave about them in this post, I genuinely LOVE their products and have been using them for years now.
Next, the concealer. The Instant Light Brush-On Perfector. (I wear 03). I put it on using the brush under my eyes and a little bit on my eyelids wherever the skin's darker. Then I use my ring finger to blend it all into my skin. I like using my fingers as it warms the product and it blends more easily.
The eyelash curler. Best thing ever invented. I don't have a branded one, but yes, mine's pink just like this one. I curl my eyelashes for 10 seconds. This baby makes all the difference. No mascara would look good without the use of this. It really opens up my eyes and gives me that come-hither innocent-child look. Which I'm SO not. Hee hee.
Next I swipe on the Clarins Double Fix Mascara. This is a Waterproofing Seal for eyelashes and eyebrows. It's a clear serum that really holds your eyelashes up. If I want to make my mascara waterproof, I wait for the mascara to dry, then swipe this on again. Makes your eyelashes totally waterproof. I've gone swimming with this on and it didn't run. No kidding. You can wear it by itself for a very subtle eye-opening non-dramatic look. Or when you're in a hurry.
While I'm waiting for the Double Fix Mascara to dry, I draw a thin line on my upper eyelid with this eye pencil and flick it at the ends. This eye pencil has a sponge tip at the other end to smudge the line. How cool is that? I smudge it in the daytime, and don't when I'm out at night. I also put it inside the rim (Rim? Is that the right word?) of my upper eyelid. It makes my upper lash line look fuller. Oh, and the coolest thing about this eye pencil is that the cap has a sharpener built in it. Sneaky!
After this, I put on a bit of champagne-coloured eyeshadow on the inside corner of my eyes. Doing this makes me look all wide awake and bushy-tailed.
The Clarins Instant Definition Mascara. I love love LOVE this! It really separates each lash and makes them look all nice and plump and so very black. And dramatic. And heavy. Ok I should stop.
Then on goes the foundation. Clarins Skin Illusion with Mineral and Plant Extracts. I never in my life thought I'd be able to wear a liquid foundation because my T-zone is oilier than Saudi Arabia. But this foundation is so light, it just settles really well into my skin and makes it look fresher. When I first tried this on a friend remarked, "You look like you have a lightbulb in your face."
Next step, the Clarins Shine Stopper, a translucent, pearly finish powder. I put this on using a triangular wedge sponge. After which I brush on my blush, a peachy coloured one by Kiko of Milan, something I picked up when I was in Rome.
And lastly the lips. Since my upper lip is darker than my lower lip, (thank you Mother Nature) I colour my lips all over with this lip pencil. The colour is a deep pink, titled Azalea. When I put on any lipstick over this lip pencil, it looks brighter and the colour stays on for 8-10 hours. Seriously. Colouring my lips completely with a lip pencil was a make-up tip shown by a Clarins make-up artist. My life is indebted to her.
And the last step: the lipstick. This is my favourite colour. Clarins Rouge Prodige in Miami Pink. I love this colour so much I have two lipsticks. I always carry one on my person.
So there it is! What I do almost every morning, and I enjoy doing it! Hope you liked reading about it!
