Moulin Rouge, sexy cars and fun!

The FIA World Endurance Championship took place this weekend at the Bahrain International Circuit. Basically, it's 6 hours of non-stop racing by some really sexy cars like Porsche, Audi, Nissan and Toyota. The race was scheduled for 4-10 pm. But before it began there were some really cool attractions for the spectators. Stilt walkers, street artists and stage perfomances with dancers and singers. The dancers were crazy amazing. I got to watch flamenco, can-can, tango and even ballet! Later when I went backstage to compliment the artists I learnt that they're a part of a Moulin Rouge Tribute Show called Parisian Spectacular. No wonder Harold Zidler's character's rendition of Roxanne was fantastic!
By 4 pm we sat down in the grandstands to watch the race. So much fun to watch the cars zip by, roaring. We even got to catch an accident. {I'm not being sadistic but it's fun to watch the pit crew repair the car!} Obviously we couldn't stay for the entire 6 hours and left after our ears could handle the thundering roars of the engines any more. But what a day! Entertainment from morning until night. This was definitely a good weekend!

If tomorrow all this would be gone, what would I miss?

I read that line somewhere on the internet. I think it was from an article about clearing up clutter in the house. But I felt it's so applicable for every single thing in life. I pondered upon that question for a long time, trying to answer it truthfully and ruthlessly. And the answer really helped me re-evaluate some priorities. It helped me sift through the superficial and showed me what I couldn't live without.
Try it out. Ask yourself: If tomorrow all this would be gone, what would I miss? Is it your family? Friends? Job? Clothes? Car? Sitting and doing nothing? Your books? The beach? These are just random things I've listed, and there are no right or wrong answers. It depends on you and your life. Who knows, trying to answer that you may even stumble upon the one thing you're really passionate about and turn it into a dream you want to chase.

Oh, and it's a great question to ask yourself when you're cleaning out your closet too! Happy Monday!

Neutral menswear and pink heels.

It's been a while since I've worn an androgynous outfit. I usually stay away from androgynous looks. I'm a girl and I love looking like one. But somedays just call for dressing up in menswear. {It's usually the days I have to play hardball with men. Rawr!} This is the perfect no-nonsense, I'm-the-boss outfit I can think of without looking completely unsexy. I paired a powder blue men's button-down with my white blazer and jeans. {And no, you don't have to wear a man's shirt for androgyny, I just decided to wear it because it's comfy and the collar splays out so nicely.} All these colours are neutral {not to mention bo-oring. Yawwn.} so I added a pop of girly colour with my pink heels. The black handbag makes the outfit more business-like which is why I accessorized with lots of silver gemstone jewelry- rings, a delicate necklace and small earrings. And of course, the last thing that really shows you mean business: a non-fussy bun.

Dawn and a maxi skirt

Dawns, sunsets, green hills and cool breezes. I've always been a nature freak. Last week was a blue moon. {When there are two full moons in a month, the second one is called a blue moon. It's rare and hence the phrase 'once in a blue moon.' And there's your fun trivia for today.} I'm a moon addict. I can sit and gaze at the moon for hours. And I didn't get to gaze at the gorgeous full moon as long as I wanted to last week, dammit. With my new job and all it entails, I find that life has kicked into a higher gear and left me desperately looking for free time. Free time in which I want to do nothing but appreciate the wonders of nature, whether that's a luminous full moon, a soft dawn sun reflected in the ocean or a splash of colourful flowers in a park. So here's me promising myself to do just that!
