Hi! I'm Shabana. I live in Bahrain. I'm a businesswoman by day and a fitness instructor by night. I believe that dressing up is the easiest way of loving yourself, and this blog is where I journal my outfits and my life. If you'd like to know more, click on the About Me tab on top. I hope you enjoy my blog!

Healthy food doesn't have to be boring!

Today's post is by my friend and colleague, Elouise Kellerman. She's a personal trainer at one of the gyms where I give classes, and she's an instagram microblogger with her account @fitness_el where she gives awesome fitness and health advice.

I love her simple, straightforward tips, and I think she has one kick-ass body! She says, "Since a young age, I have been actively involved with numerous competitive sports and maintained a healthy lifestyle and diet, but it wasn't till recently that these hobbies turned into my passion. Thus, my goal is simple, I want to be the living embodiment of passion but most of all I want to inspire!"

She inspires me, and I knew she'd inspire you! So I asked her to write a post for you, Gorgeous Reader, and she happily did. And if you like this, I'll make it a regular feature on the blog!

So, here it is, a post on dieting made easy-

Most people think you can only eat chicken, veggies and rice to lose weight and lean out. You can follow that sort of diet if you like, but you're going to get sick of it and FAST! I see so many images of people "meal prepping" the same meal for weeks and to me... ugh, BORING! Why control your life around eating and obsessing over what you eat?! I love trying new foods and desserts and I’m honestly not going to turn down a sweet-treat - but I’m not going to eat it every day either.

Moderation is key and making smart choices! SIMPLE AS THAT!

In the morning, start with a healthy breakfast - even if it's just a protein shake to get your metabolism going!

If you have a cookie or two at brunch - fine, so be it! Just don't keep eating them during the rest of the day, and just promise yourself a couple of extra minutes on the treadmill later that night.

I really believe if you start depriving yourself of things you really want, you're ultimately going to fail; but again, this doesn't mean you can eat cookies, candy, chips, etc. whenever you crave them - but treat yourself every now and then... do ya get me?

At all major meals go for some lean protein, leafy greens and good carbs - you know the drill on this already!

Another thing, healthy food does not mean boring food! Add flavoring to it! I love adding BBQ sauce to my chicken and even dip my sweet potatoes in it. Spice it up with garlic, onions, bell peppers, cayenne peppers.... the works! The more satisfying your food tastes, the more satisfied you will feel!

Pick up some healthy protein bars or other snacks to keep you going through the day.
