Red + Gray and My Desperate Wait For Eid

Red + Gray and My Desperate Wait For Eid

I can't believe Ramadan is half over already. I can't wait for it to be over completely. My sleep cycle is a disaster at best, and I feel like I'm not able to get any work done at all. For a workaholic that's super frustrating. I often dream about going away for a month long vacation during Ramadan but we all know that's not going to happen because a) a month's holiday is too long and b) I'd miss my cats too much. So here I am, desperately waiting for Eid to come and for life to go back to normal.

This red top is one of my favorite pieces designed by my mother and me. I love it because of it's big billowing sleeves and of course, because it's the perfect shade of red. The beaded lace {from our latest venture Lace Love} adds a pretty touch and breaks up the plainness of the color. I paired the top with gray high-waist wide leg pants from ASOS. The material is a cool linen mix. Even though the top and pants are both loose, the pairing works. The flow of the top is balanced out with the structure from the pants, especially the high waist and pleat details. I had done a similar red and gray look with the same top some time back, but I paired it with a gunmetal gray skirt instead of dove gray pants. If you'd like to check it out, click HERE.

I finished with lacey metallic baby blue heels from the same place. I kept the accessories to a bare minimum- oval zircon stud earrings and a ring to match, since the lace already adds a bit of bling. This is a simple look for the office but pretty and feminine at the same time. It would transition well for a night out with an envelope clutch instead of a big statement bag.

Until next time,

Dark Green Lace, Coral and Palazzos

Dark Green Lace, Coral and Palazzos

A light jacket is great for when you know you're going to be visiting air-conditioned offices or if your office frowns upon sleeveless tops but you still want to wear them. And what's lighter than lace? My mother made this pretty little lace jacket out of a dark green floral lace material she had lying around. Since I'm still obsessed with cropped jackets, she kept it short. Great for wearing over high-waist pants and skirts. I love how the dark green color contrasts with the coral of the shirt and how the lace adds a bit of interest and a beautifully delicate, feminine touch to the outfit. Because this lace is dainty, it looks great layered on top of the blouse when seen from the side.

Since my top half has two colors, the black of the pants adds a neutral shade and structure to the look. These palazzo pants are great for adding a bit of drama and flair to your work style and I love how they move while walking. I accessorized with a set of necklace, earrings and ring, all with a pretty little bow on them, and matched metallic silver pumps to the jewelry. This is a perfect outfit for work, but most importantly, perfect for summer. Palazzo pants + sleeveless blouse + light top = summer comfort heaven!

Rose, White and Delicate Florals

Rose, White and Delicate Florals

Bahrain's iconic summer is creeping up on us day by day and it's time to bring out the whites, skirts, and light clothes. This skirt is all of them which is why I probably love it so much. It's made from a light polyester material so it falls beautifully and moves with you. I'm in love with the delicate embroidery on the hem with flowers in complimentary green and pinks. Perfect summer florals.

Lately I've been obsessed with cropped/ waist length jackets. They're perfect to wear over skirts, and they make your waist look smaller when worn with pants. This rose pink jacket from ASOS is a linen-viscose mix, so it's quite comfortable and great for layering in summer. I paired the jacket with the skirt to bring out the pinks in the skirt's hems, and I wore a deep russet t-shirt inside to give the look some substance and not look too delicate. {Although I'm sure I'm going to do a very girly, delicately pretty baby pink and white combo one of these days}. Pearl jewelry, nude peep-toe heels and a maroon bag completed the outfit.

What are your summer go-to's? Which colors do you reach for when the weather gets hot?

Until next time,

xoxo

Rose and Mint Formals

Rose and Mint Formals

Pants: ASOS

Watch: Vintage
Ring: Gifted

I admit, I've become a bit of an ASOS addict and these pants were love at first sight. It's so boring to wear neutral colored trousers all the time, and I love the soft mint hue of these. The fit is true to size and since they're not skinny, they're very comfortable to move around in. The material is soft and light, perfect for Bahrain's heat and humidity, and the bow at the waist makes it more feminine.

When I have something in green I can't help but pair it with pink so obviously, this rose pink shirt was my first choice. These two colors work really well together and I love the overall soft, pastel-y, romantic feel to the ensemble. I wore big teardrop earrings that have colored stones in green and pink to match the clothes, and wore a simple ring and watch on my hands. I finished with black round-toed pumps to add substance to the look.

This week has felt like it was 15 days long, and yet, it feels like I didn't get much done. Maybe what I need is a break and some travel to set my head right again. Living in a small place like Bahrain can feel claustrophobic after some time and you desperately need to get out, even for a few days. Do you agree?

Until next time, xoxo

Pink and Floral, and the Ramadan Circadian Rhythm

Pink and Floral, and the Ramadan Circadian Rhythm

It's getting hotter and hotter by the minute and there's only one thing that beats the heat- cotton. I'm all for wearing cotton and natural fabrics in summers. Both the shirt and skirt I have on are cotton, although different textures. The shirt is a softer, slightly thicker material than the skirt. When I was taking these photos I realized both my top and bottom have been designed by me. Haha. I fell in love with the color of this shirt while shopping for textiles in Manama. It was also, of course, the perfect cotton blend I was looking for. I wanted more button-downs and I love them in a flowy, soft material so they have a more feminine feel. The skirt's material was bought while I was holidaying in Bangkok a couple of years back. I fell in love with the print and knew I was going to make a skirt from it. The funny thing is, after I bought the material, I started seeing floral print on a baby blue background everywhere. I guess the fashion industry loved it as much as I did.

I paired the shirt with this skirt to bring out the pink accents in the print. I love the overall uber-soft, uber-spring and uber-pastel effect of the ensemble. Calming for the body as well as the mind, don't you think? I accessorized with a delicate gold bar necklace and earring set, statement watch and delicate little midi rings. I finished with black chunky-heeled pumps and a neutral bag. With all the colors going on in the clothes, the bag and shoes had to be neutral.

On another note, Ramadan has started and my body {and mind!} is taking time to adjust to the new timings. I mean, everything happens after sunset! I have classes that finish at 11 pm! My circadian rhythm is all out of whack. But I'm loving the extra time I have. At least I get to finish lots of small projects and things I've been putting off for ages.

How about you? How's Ramadan going for you this far? Or just June for that matter? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time

xoxo
