How I pack for travelling

Whether for work or leisure, travel is always fun for me. Packing for it isn't. This is what I do when I have to put away stuff for a trip.

It's always a good idea to pack a few days before so that you remember anything you've forgotten. I make a list of all the essential items- phone charger, camera battery charger, toothbrush, lens solution, etc. and keep it next to my suitcase to check off.

I usually try not to take heels unless absolutely necessary but if I have to I'll take one pair of black or nude pumps that go with everything. I put them inside an ordinary shopping bag and lay them flat in the suitcase, and use the space in them to stuff smaller things like underwear and stockings. I put my make up in a make up pouch or any other small pouch.

As for outfits, I always take a few bottoms, tops that'll go with all the bottoms, and 1-2 pieces of outerwear. I'm always wearing a jacket during the flight because airports and aircrafts are unbelievably cold, and I make sure that the jacket I have on will match all my other outfits.

Tip: Always, always try on the outfits before you pack them. Once you're at your destination you don't want to realize that the tops you packed are too short for your low-waist jeans or something. And most of all, take your most comfortable clothes. You don't want to be focusing on how uncomfy you are when there are gorgeous sights to see.

If you know you're going to a formal evening/ party, pack a formal dress, but usually I'll take a semi-formal dress or top just in case. And a small glitzy clutch.

My jewelry is minimal, such as 3 pairs of earrings, a few rings and a simple necklace. I make sure all my jewelry goes with everything so I usually end up taking white metal jewelry. This way I don't have to worry about matching colored stones/ jewelry to clothes.

I usually use the one handbag I carry throughout the trip. In my handbag I carry a bottle of water and a home-made bag of mixed nuts to nosh on at airports/ flights/ other long waits. Some other essentials for my handbag are:
  • Panadol
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Hair Ties
  • Bobby pins
  • Tissues
  • Pen
  • Sunglasses
I read books on my phone now so I don't need to carry one in my handbag anymore. Which is a huge relief as the book doesn't get damaged and my handbag's lighter. And of course, remember to pack your pjs. Somehow I always forget.

So that's how I pack for travelling. Do you have any travelling/ packing tips you'd like to share? If so let me know in the comments below.
