Abandoned Battle Scenes and Pretty Beachfronts

Abandoned Battle Scenes and Pretty Beachfronts

My visit to Dubai for the new year was so much fun. While I'm always visiting Dubai, it was a lot of fun this time because I explored a few new places that were so unique and visually striking. Here are a few photos from the places I visited and some info on them.

Click on photos to enlarge them.

A Post-Apocalyptic World

Last Exit, Jebel Ali North was highly entertaining with its post-apocalyptic setting, complete with monster trucks, abandoned cars, and chills-running-down-your-spine eerie feels.

I love the finesse that went into making the place look and feel like a post-war wasteland. All the way from the weaponized cars to even the bathrooms. So much detail! I half-expected to find zombies walking around. I loved how all the food trucks were also war trucks. And of course, there was some great food, too.

It was just so much fun walking all over and marvelling at the scenes and things. Even though I was there for a couple of hours, I feel like I still didn't see everything. And there are so many other Last Exits with different themes that I want to check out!

A Rustic and Colourful Beachfront

La Mer, the beachfront in Jumeirah, was beautiful with gorgeous colours of the sea, colourful and fun street art everywhere, the unique architecture of cafes and restaurants, rustic lights and just the lively atmosphere as people milled around. My friend and I sat in Murjan Cafe and enjoyed watching the sky with its changing colours as the sun set, and a Lotus and Kunafa Caramel Cheesecake that I think may just be the best cheesecake I've ever had.

I also visited a Japanese cafe and bakery in Ibn Battuta Mall, which had beautifully presented cuisine and amazing Ramen noodles made fresh in-house.

Since my visit was very short, {only 4 days}, I think I packed a lot into it by at least visiting two new places, as opposed to spending my entire time reading in the hotel room. Great food, amazing weather and stunning skies made this short trip a memorable one.

What are some of your favourite places to visit in Dubai? What places are unmissable when it comes to eating out in Dubai?

Until next time

xoxo

Dubai for the weekend

Dubai for the weekend

I was in Dubai this weekend again, to get myself certified in CPR. I never knew how exhausting mouth-to-mouth resuscitation can be! And no, there were no cute boys we got to practice on. Just a plastic mannequin. *dramatic sigh*
After the training I had a lovely lunch with my brother and his wife at the Pavilion. I got to see some cool street art at this chic restaurant located opposite the Dubai Mall. The weather was gorgeous and so we sat outside. After a delish meal of cold mezzeh, chicken and tiramisu, they dropped me to the airport. This must've been one of my shortest personal trips to Dubai. But since I've travelled to Dubai and back for the last three weekends, I'm going to keep my sexy ass in Bahrain for sometime now, methinks!

Little Delights Tuesday

Little Delights Tuesday

Watch: Swatch, Top ring: Posh, Bangles: Various, Bottom ring: from India
Top: Mango, Skirt: Koton, Shoes: Payless

This is what happens when I decide to catch a movie with a friend at the last minute, get dressed and rush outta the house- I end up taking my outfit pictures at a spot like this. But it gets better. Friend and I ruuuun through the mall, reach the cinemas, get to the counter, breathlessly ask for the tickets, aware that we've missed the first 10 minutes of the movie, only to be laughed at by the ticket-counter-guy who proceeds to tell us the movie stopped playing last week. Argh! Anyhow, here are my little delights for today!
  • The cutest little black kitten coming to me and nuzzling against my hand in an outdoor cafe.
  • Sleeping with my head in my mom's lap.
  • Wearing these shoes.
  • I fell asleep with my palm facing up. My parents and older brother were around. I felt something wet in my hand. I woke up to see my brother spitting orange seeds into my palm. EWWWWW. That was not the little delight. The delight was seeing my folks laughing. No, this family doesn't believe in growing up and that's how I like it.
  • Nail polish that matches my phone's pink.
Hope you had a great day! xxx
