Continuing from Cairo-Part I, here are pictures from the rest of my trip:
Carpet Weaving School
These Carpets are hand-made from camel hair: the head, body and belly hair, which is the softest. It can take upto a year for a large silk carpet to be made.
Khan El Khalili Souk
This is one of the oldest markets in Cairo, dating back to 1382. It's ginormous! I spent 3 hours just walking through it and I don't think I still saw all of it.
A cruise on the Nile
I took a night cruise on the Nile in one of the 'felooka' or ferries.
Azhar Park
This is a big, beautiful park located close to the Citadel.
City Stars Mall
City Stars is the biggest mall in Cairo with 6 floors of international shopping retailers. You'll have to take my word for it when I tell you that I didn't shop. At all. :(
Coffee from Turkey, waffles from Egypt and ice cream from Paris. |
Only now that I've put up all the pictures do I realize how much I've done and seen although it felt like I missed out so much: the National Museum, the Citadel... But I have a feeling I'll be going back soon!
