How To Exude Confidence Every Day Of The Month

How To Exude Confidence Every Day Of The Month

Confidence is difficult to achieve. We all know that it comes from within, and it's always in our grasp. Yet overcoming fears and brushing aside the views of others is notoriously difficult. After all, we’re social animals.

Exuding confidence, however, comes with a host of advantages for your wellbeing. You feel better in your day-to-day life. You don’t worry about what other people think. And you can focus on the things that matter to you the most.

People who exude confidence tend to go far in life. They get the partners they want, the promotions they seek, and the fulfilment of a life well-lived. If you can just be confident in yourself, you’ve won half that battle.

But how can you exude confidence every day? What techniques should you use?

Create A Strong, Powerful Body

The way our bodies look on the outside is so often an outgrowth of how we feel on the inside. Happiness, determination, and perseverance all have a habit of showing up in your complexion and waistline. If you feel good about yourself and your situation, your body will eventually reflect that.

Presenting yourself as physically powerful, therefore, can have a knock-on effect on your confidence levels. Toned muscles and a slim waist are a daily reminder of who you are and what matters to you.

Sort Your Teeth

You can have the best physique in the world, but if you’re unhappy with your teeth, you’ll never feel confident when you smile. Whenever you meet somebody new, you’re worried about them judging you.

Practices like Bowral Street Dental Practice, however, point out that all dental problems can be fixed. Crooked teeth, stains, or bad breath are all amenable to intervention.

Modern dentistry is capable of performing minor miracles. Even if you don’t have any teeth at all, you can get two rows of perfect pearly whites with full-mouth reconstruction.

When you have great teeth, you immediately exude confidence. You feel uninhibited smiling. And that’s when the magic happens.

Focus On Fulfilling Your Own Standards

Mentally strong people don’t hinge their happiness on the opinions of others. Instead, they focus exclusively on meeting their own standards.

Think about what matters to you. Judge yourself according to your goals and aspirations. If somebody makes a comment intended to be hurtful, that’s a reflection of their character, not yours.

Stop Being So Polite

Being overly polite is the sign of somebody who lacks the confidence to take risks in social situations. Being well-mannered around other people is great. But sometimes you need to show a little edge so that other people know where they stand with you. You’re not a perfect human being, so why pretend to be one? Get comfortable with airing your thoughts. You fear that people will judge and condemn you. But more often than not, the opposite happens. They like the fact that you’re open about your impulses and opinions. It builds trust.

These are just a few techniques and ideas that will help you exude more confidence. Give them a try!

Until next time,

xoxo

Stop.

Stop.

Photo: Arif Feroze

Stop explaining yourself.
Stop trying to become what everyone wants you to become.
Stop hating yourself because others don't love you.
Stop being nice to people who don't deserve it.
Stop following rules made by others.
Stop berating yourself for mistakes.
Stop punishing yourself for what others did to you.
Stop feeling guilty for being happy.
Stop making yourself uncomfortable to make others feel comfortable.
Stop being afraid of things going right.
Stop apologizing for being yourself.
Stop putting on a fake smile for the world.
Stop making life harder for yourself.

How to Keep The Winter Blues Away

How to Keep The Winter Blues Away

It's winter. It's cold and gloomy. The days are shorter and the nights are long. Most days you don't feel like getting out of your warm, cozy bed. And you feel sad for no reason. Don't worry, you just have the winter blues. Here are some things you can do to make you feel all happy and fuzzy inside again.

  • Dress up! Yes I know it's cold and you have to layer up, but you can still wear your favorite clothes and accessories.
  • Wear your favorite perfume. A good fragrance uplifts the mood, and better yet, it's on you!
  • Exercise! Long walks in the crisp air are especially refreshing. Plus the endorphin rush from exercise will make you happy.
  • Socialize. It's the season of events and activities. Do something with friends or even with just one friend if you're anti-social like me.
  • Snuggle up with hot chocolate and a book.
  • Watch your favorite movies with hot home-made popcorn.
  • Light up holiday scented candles in the house.
  • Write out a long list of everything you achieved last year. No matter how small.
  • Put up fairy lights inside your house or your room. P.S. I have fairy lights inside my closet.
  • Dance. At a club or a dance class, or in the privacy of your own room. You can't feel sad if you're dancing. It's science.
  • Reorganize your space. Rearrange your desk, the furniture in your room, or just the knick-knacks on your shelves. The newness of changing things around you will make you feel good.
  • Play your favorite music.
  • Bake! Bread, cakes, cookies, biscuits. Anything that you like that fills the house with delicious, warm aromas.
  • Do something nice and unexpected for someone you love.
  • Drink herbal tea. There's just something about sipping on a hot mug of tea that makes you feel all good inside.
  • And the last one- think about spring being around the corner!

Until next time

Stay happy

xoxo

15 Life Lessons Learnt by The End of 2015

15 Life Lessons Learnt by The End of 2015

2015 is almost at an end. I've had a few brilliant successes, a few dismal failures, traveled to all the usual nearby places, chased the sun across the Atlantic on a trip to Canada, lost a few friends, and made some amazing new ones. As I reflect back on the year that was, these are the life lessons I want to remember.

1. Stop beating yourself up so much.
2. Learn to slow down and enjoy life at leisure.
3. Some people only invite you into their life to show off.
4. Don't abuse your body. While too little physical activity isn't healthy, overexercising isn't good for you either.
5. If you want to be something, just start doing what it takes to become it. If you want to be an artist, paint. If you want to be a writer, write. Halfway down the road you'll find yourself becoming the person you wanted to be when you reached your destination.

6. Forgive yourself for choosing the wrong friends. They were there to teach you something about yourself.
7. Let it go- small grievances, overthinking, over-analyzing. Just let. it. go.
8. The best memories are made when you make other people happy.
9. A kick in the derriere is sometimes just what you need to get you to break out of a rut and be motivated to do your best.
10. Ignore the people that rile you up. You don't need to know what they're doing. Put mental  blinders on and focus only on your own life and your progress.

Photos: Arif Feroze

11. Let people love you. Don't feel like you don't deserve it. There's a reason they're doing so much for you, and that reason is probably that you're a good person who's worth loving.
12. Travel, not just to appreciate new lands and cultures, but to appreciate your own home.
13. People are not against you, they're for themselves.
14. When you're finding it too hard to keep up with everything in your life, it's okay to let go of some things. Even though they're great for you and/or you're really good at doing them.
15. Don't let desperation trick you into believing you don't have everything you need. You do.

What are some of the things you learned through this year? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time,

Stay happy.

xoxo

No one can make you feel GOOD without your permission

No one can make you feel GOOD without your permission

Girl in the Window. Watercolor on paper.

We've all heard that no one can make you feel bad without your permission. But have you ever thought, no one can make you feel good without your permission, either?

How many times have you been complimented but you shook it off? Or someone did something nice for you but you genuinely thought you didn't deserve it? Or the worst- people want to love you but you don't think yourself worthy of either the quality, or the quantity, of their love?

We know that happiness is an inside job. But if we refuse to believe that we're worthy of happiness, or love, or any of the good things in life, then no matter how much we get, we're never going to value them. Unless we give ourselves permission to feel good about ourselves, we never will.

It all boils down to self-love. When you love yourself truly and completely, you know that you deserve to feel good. You know that you're not perfect, you're a work in progress, but you don't hate yourself for it. You love yourself for trying to be better and for living life in your own imperfect way. You're happy with yourself. And that's when you give yourself permission to feel good.

So the next time someone compliments you, or does something nice, or shows you love, accept it. Accept to yourself that you're worthy of all that and more. Feel good. Heck, feel FANTASTIC. Without. Feeling. Guilty. Find out where that guilt stems from and tell yourself that you'll work on those parts of you that you're not completely satisfied with, but right now, you're giving yourself permission to feel good for all the other parts of you that you're proud of.

And the side effect? Your relationships will improve because you're finally letting others make you happy, without rejecting it or feeling a need to repay them. People like making people happy. Today let that person be you.

23 Things You Can Do For Free To Cheer You Up

23 Things You Can Do For Free To Cheer You Up

"I'm feeling blue."
"Let's go shopping."

We've become so used to spending money whenever we want to cheer ourselves up, but did you know there are plenty of things you can do to make yourself happy again, without spending a single penny?

Here are 23 things that I think would cheer you up, and they don't cost anything:
  1. Change bed sheets. Freshly washed bed sheets smell lovely and the change will instantly uplift your mood.
  2. Rearrange the furniture in your room. Move the table to another corner, push the bed onto another wall. If your room is too small to do this, make a few changes like rearranging the items on your shelves. Making these small changes will cheer you up and get blocked creativity to flow again.
  3. Do an elaborate hair-do, even if you're home in your pj's. Look up a nice hairstyle online that can be done without too much fuss and hair products, and then set your hair that way. It might be a ponytail, an elaborate bun or even a simple side-braid. Do something you've never done before. Walk around the house like that and you'll smile at yourself every time you look in the mirror.
  4. Play board games. Get a family member or friend and play board games with them. It's the cheapest, easiest way to have fun and pass the time.
  5. Make yourself a cup of tea. If you're alone, make yourself a nice cup of your favourite tea, in the prettiest mug you have. Sit down, sip slowww.
  6. Go for a long drive. Get in your car and go for a long drive around town. Go on roads you've never been on before.
  7. Dance. Put on your favourite music and shake that booty.
  8. Go see a baby. Have a cute niece/ nephew? Or a friend's toddler? Ask them to bring them over or go visit. Or offer to take the baby out. A cute, happy baby is always a pick-me-up {pun intended}.
  9. Bake. Bake a cake. Or cookies. And don't share.
  10. Pot a plant. Take a few seeds and pot them. If you don't have a pot, take cotton, line it at the bottom of a plastic container, and sprinkle a few seeds. Keep near sunlight.
  11. Draw. It doesn't matter if you're not a good artist. Grab some paper and pencils and draw. Let your emotions flow on paper.
  12. Call a friend. If you can't call, text. If you can't text, mail.
  13. Write a love letter to yourself. Write a long letter to yourself telling you how much you love you and why. After you're done, wrap with a pretty ribbon, spray some perfume and keep it in a special place in your closet. The next time you're down take it out and read.
  14. Watch a feel-good movie. Find an old DVD or if you're like me, you have movies saved on your laptop. Make sure it has a happy ending and you have chocolate.
  15. Clean out your closet. You never know what you might find.
  16. Sing. Pick an uplifting song and sing along to it. Loudly. One of my favourites is this one.
  17. Exercise. Instead of always feeling guilty that you haven't exercised, if you have fifteen minutes, roll out your yoga mat. Exercise releases endorphins in your system, making you feel better about yourself.
  18. Cook a delicious meal with your friends or family. It does not have to be a six course affair. Anything simple will do.
  19. Wear that new outfit you were saving up for an occasion. You waking up every day is enough occasion to celebrate.
  20. Compliment someone who you really admire or whose outfit/ jewellery/ bag you adore. It will make you happy when you see their smile.
  21. Plan your next vacation.
  22. Nosh on your favourite comfort food (but don't binge!).
  23. Dress up in your favourite colour- if it's head to toe pink, do it!
So there you have it. 23 things you can do to cheer you up, for free! What more can YOU add to the list? Leave a comment below! xxx

This last year I grew my hair out, and it changed my life.

This last year I grew my hair out, and it changed my life.

Photo: Paul Gomes.

When I look back at 2013 and wonder what I did differently, one thing immediately pops into my head- I didn't cut my hair.

I was obsessed with getting my hair cut regularly. Like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory, I had one, and only one, hairdresser who I trusted to touch my hair, and I'd go to her regularly every 6 weeks. If I didn't get a trim on time, I'd feel like my hair looks awful, making me look terrible, and that bad things would start happening. My best friend would constantly tell me I'm crazy and that I should just let my hair grow out. I finally decided to listen to her. I stopped going for my regular hair trims. {In fact, the last hair cut I had was in December 2012.} And you know what? Growing my hair out changed my life.

Once I stopped visiting the hair salon with such regularity, I found that I became less and less obsessive about other things. For instance, I used to also regularly color my hair since I have a few grays. I decided, you know what, f*** this. A lot of people nowadays have premature gray hair and it's ridiculous if anyone still believes that gray hair makes you look old or ugly. So I stopped the neurotic need to color my hair as soon as I saw a micromillimeter root of gray showing.

After a few months, I also stopped blow-drying my hair to 'set' it. I realized that I'm happy with my wavy hair and that it looks great without having to blow-dry and straighten it to within an inch of its life. Surprisingly, at the same time I received many compliments from people saying they loved my longer, wavy hair and what did I do to set it that way? My gleeful answer- absolutely nothing.

And since I stopped cutting, coloring and blow-drying my hair, the immediate result was that my hair became healthier, thicker and stronger. It even grew faster!

But I noticed another result. My mind relaxed. No longer did I feel the need to look absolutely immaculate every single moment. I accepted the fact that some days my hair won't look perfect. So what? I have better things to think about. Since I let go of the need to have my hair looking 'perfect' all the time, I applied this philosophy to other areas of my life. I reduced my make up routine. I stopped wearing foundation. {Trust me, getting rid of this one step is so freeing. Foundation takes ages to apply, then you have to blend, blend, blend, then add powder to set it in place so it doesn't come off on your clothes.... UGH.}

I started letting go of other things as well. Things that were not as tangible. Like ideas and thoughts that I stubbornly stuck to, even though they were holding me back. I realized that I don't have to be right all the time. That I don't have to have all the answers; all the bleeping time. I gave myself permission to make mistakes. To mess up. To fail.

I stopped being so hard on myself. I stopped berating myself. I started being gentler. All this led me to love myself more. And in the end, that's what counts. Because you can't love others fully unless you've accepted yourself completely, premature gray hairs and all.

Today I often look back and laugh at that girl who used to wake up each morning, take a shower and spend hours straightening her hair and applying make up to look perfect. Today I get out of bed, brush my teeth, comb my hair and GO!

And the biggest benefit - I get more beauty sleep. Hurrah!

An Easy Way To Make Yourself Happy

An Easy Way To Make Yourself Happy

Top: Koton, Skirt: Jane Norman, Bag: Aldo, Sunnies: Armani. Photos: Arif Feroze.

I had had a very full work week, last week, and was eagerly looking forward to relaxing on the weekend. But nooooo... the Universe had something else in store. It decided to cram all the people I never wanted to see again, within this weekend. In the span of just two days I met several people who I have in the 'Douchebag' category in my head. It was very unpleasant, I can tell you.

So you can imagine I woke up grumpy and annoyed this morning to start this new week. The Universe owed me a nice, relaxing, happy weekend, dammit! Anyway, as I soldiered on through the work day, during my lunch break I remembered I have to think of something nice for my Galaxy Note II's new cover as the old one's faded. And since I love words, I decided it has to be some sort of writing. And what better words to put on my phone than those that remind me of everything I love? So I started making a list.

After some time this is what it started to look like:

...Bangles. Pralines 'n' Cream. Long hair. Waterproof Mascara. Writing. Dressing up. Travel. Dance. Books. Drawing. Happiness. Laughing. Stilettos. Tea. Dreaming. Red lipstick. Silliness. Independence. Combat...

And so on. What I realized is this- I started feeling happy again. All the weariness and annoyance wore off and I was smiling to myself. My mind automatically stopped focusing on the bad experiences {and people!} and now all I could think about was all the gorgeous things I love and how they make me so happy.

So there you go- an easy way to make yourself happy. Write down the things you love.

Top four favourite chick-lits

Top four favourite chick-lits

I love a good chick-lit. My favourite are the ones that have a strong, career-oriented female protagonist who happens to find love on the side while chasing her dreams. I devour many, many of these on a regular basis. Belinda Jones, Jane Costello, Sophie Kinsella and Meg Cabot are some of my favourite authors.

Out of all the thousands of chick-lits I've read over the years, these are four that have left an imprint on my mind.

A Valentine's Kiss by Lucie Hart
This Valentine's day Imogen is going to meet the man of her dreams, if only she can discover who he is.  At a gloriously over-the-top house party in the balmy South of France, trainee chef Imogen finds herself playing blind man's buff with a host of impossibly handsome men, when one of them kisses her. It's the most perfect kiss she's ever experienced in her short—and frankly, to date romantically disappointing—life. But by the time she recovers her wits sufficiently to remove her blindfold, her mystery kisser has disappeared. Could her Prince Charming be one of her fellow-chefs, Dimitri or Bastien? Both are clearly interested in her. But there are also enigmatic Latino hunk Enzo, good-times-guy DJ Cheyenne, aristocratic Amaury, and the American visitors—Archer and Everett. So many men, so little time. Imogen can't just keep kissing men until she finds the right one—can she?

I love this book not only because of the unique plot, but because the author references real paintings and photos in the story. I was constantly googling them while reading this book. Plus, the mystery is maintained until the end. The author will have you guessing until the end and finally when the mystery man is revealed it's a real {but pleasant} surprise. Oh and of course- the book is set in South of France, which just makes it so much more interesting.

What's your Number by Karyn Bosnak
How many men does it take to find true love?
When Delilah Darling reads a survey revealing that most people have 10.5 sexual partners in their lifetime, she begins to feel like a tramp. She’s slept with nineteen men so far—–almost twice the national average. During a self-help moment, she vows to cap her “number” at twenty, swearing she’ll save her last spot for the right guy. But after losing her job and having a wild night on the town, she falls into bed with Mr. Wrong. Unwilling to up her number, but also unable to imagine a life of celibacy, Delilah does the only thing a girl in her situation can do: she tracks down every man she’s ever slept with in a last-ditch effort to make it work with one of them.
A hilarious romp through Delilah’s past loves, What’s Your Number? shines a spotlight on every woman’s dirty little secret and proves that, when it comes to matters of the heart, sometimes numbers tell only a fraction of the story.

Trust me, if you've watched the movie first and liked it even a little bit, read the book. It's very different from the movie but runs along the same lines. This is one of those books that seems very light, but manages to teach you quite a bit. Funny but very intriguing, it'll have you hooked from start to end.

All I Ever Wanted by Kristin Higgins
One Happily-Ever-After Rocking Chair...
and no sign of any forthcoming babies to rock in ol' Georgebury, Vermont. For Callie Grey, turning thirty means coming to grips with the fact that her boss (and five-week fling) is way overdue in his marriage proposal. And way off track because Mark has suddenly announced his engagement to the company's new Miss Perfect. If that isn't bad enough, her mom decides to throw her a three-oh birthday bash in the family funeral home.
Bad goes to worse when she stirs up a crazy relationship with the town's not so warm and fuzzy veterinarian, Ian McFarland, in order to flag Mark's attention. So Ian is more comfortable with animals.... So he's formal, orderly and just a bit tense. The ever-friendly, fun-loving and spontaneous Callie decides it's time for Ian to get a personality makeover. But dang, if he doesn't shock the heck out of her, she might actually fall for Vermont's unlikeliest eligible bachelor....

The most outstanding thing about this book is that the author manages to really make you feel the emotions the protagonist Callie Grey is going through.  P.S: She'll make you cry. But don't worry, it's still got a happy ending. This book left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling that stayed with me for days after I finished it.

Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend by Jenny Colgan
What does an It girl do if she loses all her money?
Sophie Chesterton is a girl about town – she knows all the right people, goes to all the right parties, and wears all the right clothes. But deep down she suspects that her best friends are actually rather nasty, and that her lifestyle doesn't really amount to much. Her father wants her to make her own way in the world. to make him proud. But after one shocking evening her life is changed for ever.
Scraping a living as an assistant to a ‘glamour’ photographer; living in a hovel on the Old Kent Road with four smelly boys; eating baked beans from the can – this is one spectacular fall from grace. Sophie is desperate to get her life back – but does a girl really need diamonds to be happy?

Again, a book which has a unique story. It's heartwarming and inspiring to see how Sophie adjusts to being penniless after living in the lap of luxury. Not only is this book hilarious, it manages to leave you with food for thought while also having a surprise ending.

Except for What's Your Number, I picked up all these books by chance, absolutely oblivious to how they'd become my favourite pieces of fluff fiction. So really, don't judge a book by it's cover.
Happy reading!

7 Sexy Character Traits of Happy People

7 Sexy Character Traits of Happy People

I'm subscribed to Marc And Angel Hack Life, and when I read this article today, I had to share it with you. Thought-provoking indeed.

In an era of public booty-bouncing and other ubiquitous in-your-face expressions of sensuality, it’s about time we had a new standard of sexy.
Real sexiness is so much more than physical shape and form.  It’s more than style and wardrobe, attitude and visible swag.  And it’s certainly more than the lopsided exposed skin to covered skin ratio depicted on today’s popular media channels.
We are increasingly in desperate need of a more enduring standard, one that includes more than face and body – one that includes the shape and form of internal qualities, those that add joy and passion to life, those of heart, mind and soul.
The Up-Close-and-Personal Principle
Have you ever seen someone across a crowded room you were immediately attracted to, approached them and got to know the person up close and personal, and then couldn’t remember for the life of you how you ever found them attractive?
On the other hand, have you met someone who had no particular appeal at first glance, and then after getting to know them you suddenly discovered pure sexiness oozing from their pores?
Deep, moving sexiness is more than mere physicality and more than swaying hips and pouty lips.  It’s more than broad shoulders and six pack abs.  The most enduring form of sexiness is the most endearing trait and the clearest mirror of the human soul: happiness.
It’s time we elevate happiness to its proper place in the sexiness pantheon by learning and applying these seven character traits of happiness (and therefore sexiness):

1.  Moral Courage

Happy people stand up for what’s right and don’t get pushed around by peer pressure into the newest fad or trend.  They have the courage, conviction and inner strength to do what’s right even while others reshape themselves into ever-shifting expressions of someone else’s standards, becoming shadows of other’s values.
Chameleons are not very sexy creatures.  But real men and real women who know what they believe and value, and stand up courageously for those beliefs and values are tremendously sexy!

2.  Self-Confidence

Happiness requires a degree of confidence that allows us to believe we have value, that we are worthy of love and friendship and success.  Happy people have faith in themselves and in their ability to develop the skills and qualities needed to become highly competent at living life well.
Keep in mind, though, that it’s not the pseudo-confidence that hides insecurities under cocky exteriors that shout their accomplishments and exaggerate their strengths and experiences.  It’s a humble self-acceptance and self-love that genuinely feels comfortable in their own skin.
Not much is sexier than someone who humbly exudes self-confidence.

3.  Thoughtfulness

They say nice people finish last, but that’s just not true.  As a matter of fact, jerks are never completely trusted or respected by people who respect themselves.  Happy people are thoughtful people.  They consider the needs of others.  Making a difference, in fact, takes center stage in their lives; it’s an important part of their self-identity.
Their thoughtfulness is measured in how they treat others, including those they don’t know, and in countless silent acts of kindness.  If you’re not convinced that thoughtful people are both happy and sexy, just ask anyone in a loving relationship with a few years under their belt how sexy thoughtfulness is to them and how thoroughly unsexy its opposite is.

4.  Passion

Happiness at its highest level includes living a life of passion and purpose.  Happy lives are directed lives, pointed at something deeply meaningful.  The happiest amongst us are excited about living because every day offers them another opportunity to do what they love, because truly passionate people have many interests, they are rarely bored, adrift or indolent.
Passion and purpose are ‘sexiness’ personified.  Sexy people love life and love people and love what they spend their time doing.  You may know people who are impassioned by nothing, who sit around and waste ungodly amounts of time.  Are they sexy?  Not at all.

5.  Self-Responsible

Have you ever met a happy person who regularly evades responsibility, blames and points fingers and makes excuses for their unsatisfying lives?  Me either.  Happy people accept responsibility for how their lives unfold.  They believe their own happiness is a byproduct of their own thinking, beliefs, attitudes, character and behavior.
And just as happy people never blame others, external circumstances or the universe for what is or isn’t a part of their lives, sexy people don’t either.  Just think about the epitome of the unsexy: A whiny, sniveling, accusing, blaming, irresponsible victim of life.  Not happy.  Not sexy.

6. Honest

Liars hide from the truth.  They lack the courage to stand up to the reality of their lives.  They hide behind words and camouflage – their hidden agenda behind a web of stories and verbal slights of hand.  Happy people don’t live that way.  Honesty is a hallmark of the happiest amongst us.  It is also a characteristic of the dangerously sexy.
There is no sexiness in a liar.  They breed distrust.  As a matter of fact, lying is one of the quickest ways to ruin a beautiful relationship.  Indeed, trust is one of the sexiest characteristics of the singularly sexy.

7. Self-accepting

Happy people are authentic.  They are real and know who they are and what they like.  They are in touch with their feelings and spend time learning and growing and developing.  Self-accepting people may forgive themselves of their own shortcomings, but they don’t excuse them.
They look their weaknesses square in the eye, accept them as they are, then go to work growing and improving and transforming them into strengths.  Self-acceptance is never used as an excuse for stagnation or laziness or apathy by the truly self-accepting.
Someone with that kind of inner calm, self-awareness and forward momentum is almost universally considered sexy and attractive to others.

Afterthoughts

Our superficial culture honors the young and thin.  It holds up the tall and full-lipped and big-bosomed as the epitome of sexy.  But that’s a woefully shallow brand of sexiness.  That’s a standard of sexy that is only skin deep, lacking substance and depth; it misses the point of true and enduring sexiness.
After all, youth eventually fades to gray, vertebrate compress, our thin parts plump and our plump parts thin, lips wrinkle and skin sags.
On the other hand, intelligence deepens, wisdom expands, experience informs, character lifts, hearts are softened and intellectual backbones stiffen with time and effort.
Sexiness can therefore no longer be held hostage to a superficial culture addicted to taut skin on bony frames with sculpted faces.  It’s time to take back the very notion of sexiness and recast it in the mirror of more profound and enduring qualities.
It’s time, in a word, to establish happiness as the new standard of sexy.
But a single voice can’t do much to change the cultural ideal.  So please spread the word… to take the message of sexy happiness far and wide.  Like and Tweet and otherwise share this post if you are ready to lift a new standard from the tired ashes of a jaded concept.
Perhaps as a happy byproduct, more of us will be able to look in the mirror with confidence and walk away with a strut, knowing we’re deeply and happily hot.
