Matte lipsticks look amazing, it's true. But they're annoying when they dry up in a few hours and your lips start cracking and showing lines. Ugh. Not nice. Which is why when I received the new Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks by Bourjois, I had the same concern. They claim to be matte lipsticks that have a 24-hour hold, but won't dry out the lips. And OMG do they deliver!
I was sent these two colors: 06 Ping Pong and 07 Nude-ist.
06 Ping Pong is an utterly delicious, bright fuchsia color, as you can see below. It's a great pop that makes your entire face look fresher.
07 Nude-ist a natural-looking Rosewood color, perfect for everyday wear. Though it looks subtle, it's a warm, beautiful and intense hue.
I tried out both these colors by wearing them each on two separate days and I am SO in love with them! They're not exactly a lipstick, they're a lip lacquer. Which made me doubt whether the color would be intense because usually liquid lipsticks are sort of translucent. But this lip lacquer transforms into a velvety, gorgeous, matte finish a few minutes after applying. It feels quite light on the lips and doesn't transfer. The color is buildable, so you can apply it a few more times for an even more intense color. And yes, it stays on all day, without drying the lips. I've been wearing the 06 fuchsia one alllllllll day today and my lips still feel moisturized.
A new line by Bourjois for Spring Summer, all the shades in the Rouge Edition Velvet are punchy, statement hues that stand out from the crowd, but are still great for everyday. There are 8 divine shades in total-
I can't wait for these to hit the shelves in Bahrain. The colors are so yummy and right up my alley, that I'm probably going to end up getting all of them!
