Navy + Delicate Florals & The Year Slipping By

This top from ASOS has lots going on but the first impression you get is that it looks fierce. The puffy gathered shoulders, small neckline, and the rich navy blue of the material add a certain fierceness to it. The origami knot at the side adds a bit of sweetness to it, balancing out the strong shoulders. Navy is always a great color to have in your work wardrobe as it's easily one of the most professional and elegant colors, and it goes with almost everything. The material of the blouse is a thick polyester, so it doesn't wrinkle easily. The tailoring is good, with a long zipper at the back, ensuring a good fit. One of my favorite things about this top is how structured it looks. It nips in slightly at the waist and sits perfectly. I'm wearing a UK size 10, and as usual, the top is true to size. That's one of the best things I like about ASOS. I know what my size is and they don't go wrong with it. The blue one I'm wearing is out of stock but it's available in white.

I paired the blouse with these floral print boot-cut pants from H&M. I fell in love with the delicate floral print, which I'm finding is becoming more and more rare these days as most brands embrace large floral prints some of which look like they should have been left in the 80s. The white of the pants looks and feels fresh, and because the print has lots of colors, it's easy to pair different colored tops with the pants. {This is how I always shop. I think about how the item will go with the rest of the clothes in my wardrobe}. I actually dressed from the bottom up, deciding to wear these pants and then choosing the top to go with it. I matched the blue of the blouse to the navy flowers in the pants. The material of the trousers has just the perfect amount of stretch to it, and feels almost denim-like. I finished with fuchsia shoes and a matching handbag, to add a burst of cheerful color. As mentioned in my last post, this is definitely the last you'll see of my platform pumps. This is a great look for when you want to look professional but also want to add a bit of fun and color.

On another note, CAN YOU BELIEVE IT'S NOVEMBER? A few days ago while closing my company's accounts and finances for October, it suddenly hit me that it's November already. And that after one month more we'll be done with 2017. I know everyone says it and they say it for every year, but this year really did feel like it whizzed by. Or at least it did for me. Although my vacation to Amsterdam in March feels like it was an eternity away. Maybe it's just because I got so busy in the last quarter of the year, with moving house and then the book launch, that the year felt like it was moving along at a steady pace but the last few months whizzed by in a blur. I really don't care about celebrating New Year's, but I do think a year is a good period of time to measure how far you've come and reflect on everything you've done. I'm already setting goals for 2018, and working on another secret project {no, it's not another book}. But the best part about a new year looming ahead? Travel plans!
