With Ramadan just around the corner, restaurants in Bahrain are getting their Iftar menus ready. On Monday I was invited for a tasting at PAUL Bakery & Restaurant. At the tasting, we were served ALL the items on the Iftar menu. This included a drink, two soups, two salads, three main courses and two desserts. WHEW!
Desserts! |
The food was deeeelicious! Each item seemed to be carefully crafted by expert chefs. During Ramadan, the diner has a choice of one soup, one salad, one main course and one dessert from this Iftar menu. You'll start off with the Jallab, a traditional drink, then choose between the Red Capsicum Soup and Lentil Soup. Next up you can choose from a Potato Salad with asparagus, goat cheese and
mushrooms or a healthy Shrimp Quinoa Salad, served with freshly baked bread. In the main course you have a choice of aromatic Beef Tenderloin Stew with
mushrooms and asparagus, served with rice perfumed with oriental spice. The
health-conscious can opt for the Grilled Sea Bass filet served with artichoke
barigoule and lemon fennel rice. The last option is the Grilled Chicken Breast drizzled with
rosemary and served with a side of orzo pasta, spinach and feta cheese. The meal finishes off with a choice of dessert from a Date Tart or Raisin Tart.

My favourites? The Shrimp Quinoa Salad, {though the Potato Salad was divine as well}, the Beef Tenderloin Stew {tough competition between the fish and chicken, but the beef was so tender and well-cooked, and the taste was out of this world}. From the desserts I preferred the Raisin Tart as it's slightly less sweet.
This entire Iftar menu costs BD 9.9 per person. With each dish a gourmet creation, and large, satisfying portions, it's a great deal! PAUL Bakery and Restaurant is in Bahrain City Centre and Seef Mall, and during Ramadan they're open for takeaway from 10 am onwards and dine-in begins at Iftar time.
P.S: I take no responsibility for your computer/ laptop/ phone malfunctioning if you drooled all over it while reading this post. ;)
I want Ramadan to come sooner after seeing these pictures!
